THE SOLITUDE OF JING HUA                  2011

Julia Burns has held solo shows at Griffith Regional Art Gallery (May2010), a performance for Youth Week at Bondi Beach (2010), public performances in Newtown Square and Martin Place(2009,2010), group exhibitions at Osage Gallery Hong Kong (09), First Draft Gallery Sydney (07), Cleveland St Theatre (09), and at beta_space, The Powerhouse Museum (07).

Her work celebrates intimacy and privacy.
To date it has featured issues surrounding third party access of personal data online. Working predominately in interactive public performance and video, she presents digital phenomena in an analog and tactile context.

Her research into privacy and its value led Julia to develop a deep respect for the nature of intimacy and the vulnerability of every person. She is now creating works that celebrate the beauty of courage, honesty and individuality in the face of the pressures of society.
