DR HARALD KRAEMER
Dr. Harald Kraemer teaches at ISEA2016 co-host City University of Hong Kong and is the
curator of ISEA2016 juried exhibition. He is a ‘wanderer’ between the worlds: a trained Media /
Design / Art Historian who is also working as a ‘Gestalter’ of online and offline hypermedia
applications as well as system analyst for collection management systems and museums. He has
studied Art History, Classical Archeology and History at the universites of Trier, Vienna and
Witten/Herdecke as well as Museum Studies and Curatorship at the Institute of Cultural Sciences
in Vienna. As a consultant for media in museums, documentation management and digital
collections, he has worked with almost 40 museums, archives and libraries in Austria, Germany
and Switzerland. Furthermore he has developed and produced more than 60 hypermedia
applications (interactive stories, CD-ROM, kiosk system, DVD-ROM), websites, and learning
courses for museums and universities. He has written and published widely on the subject of
hypermedia, digital collections, documentation as well as contemporary art. For
TRANSFUSIONEN, he has edited and designed several books about contemporary art. Already
during his studies in the 1980s, he opened an art gallery and since that time he has worked as a
‘Ausstellungsmacher’. In 2012 J. Stoll and H. Kraemer have founded ‘lotsremark’ and opened this
offspace for art projects in Basel with the exhibition ‘DYSPOSITIVE. M. Broodthaers & G.
Steinmann’.
