Day 1 (Mon 16/05/2016)

The first day of the course was opened by our co-director Sarah Cook. Most of the course speakers arrived last night in HK and now are sitting in the classroom to meet all the participants who are gonna spend this week together.

Sarah’s welcoming speech was nice and inspiring. She then went on to talk about curatorial practice from her own experiences.

We then headed to MIACA which is short for Moving Image Archive of Contemporary Art, an art space in Chai Wan founded by a Hong Kong-based Japanese curator Hitomi Hasegawa. She introduced the programming of MIACA and her recent exhibition held at Yau Ma Tei.

Then the crew was brought to Cattle Depot — our home base, for a pop-up lightening talk by Berlin-based digital-savvy Tactical Technology Collective who were in town for Wikitopia, another event by Videotage.
